Biography
Daddy Jiggy is an American-Nigerian singer, rapper, songwriter, master mixing engineer and record producer currently signed to the Paradise Studios record label.
Discovered at the early age of 9, he received a standing ovation amid applauses from the parents and teachers of his Primary/Elementary School for his outstanding acting performance in a stage drama. He made his first state television appearances in a youth TV drama series called Teens and Twenties which aired on Ondo State RadioVision Corporation, Nigeria in the early 1990s. He started singing in his Catholic high school's student choir while attending Aquinas College in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. He later formed a rap group called Lyrically Madd Gs (LMGs) with two of his friends and together they performed at several street shows, schools and University campuses in many states of Nigeria.
A life long student of world music, Daddy Jiggy is a self taught modern day musician who started music professionally after winning the Benson & Hedges Upcoming Acts Grab The Mic Competition in Akure in the year 1999. Earlier that year, a chance meeting with Mannie Essien, currently a Cool FM Radio Lagos presenter, in Ibadan, Nigeria led to him auditioning for the competition. His two breakout songs, Shayo's Party and Aristo that also featured in the competition went on to top the radio and campus charts in the states of Ondo, Osun, Edo, Oyo and Lagos states in Nigeria and he became a household name in the minds of millions of fans. After winning this competition, he was briefly managed by Pretty Okafor of the Junior and Pretty music group in the year 2000. Since then, Daddy Jiggy has released music both on physical CDs and digitally online and has also received massive airplay on radio stations in Nigeria, America, and other countries with several AfroBeats singles like Royal Daddy, Elle, Summer Love, Shayo's Party, Jealousy, Baba Olowo, Iyawo Mi, Mr. Oppressor, Owo and Irawo, a modern remake of the '70's classic King Sunny Ade's breakout song Esubiribiri. Irawo features Jazzy guitar contributions from Nigerian AfroBeats guitarist Fiokee.
Daddy Jiggy is highly proficient in the use of advanced music technologies which he employs in single handedly creating his Afro Pop Jazz and AfroBeats style of music which is a diverse blend of African/West African/Yoruba rhythms, melodies and percussion patterns interlaced with elements of Jazz, Hip/Hop, R&B, Raggae, Dancehall and Soul music. Daddy Jiggy uses as his artistic canvas music industry standard Digital Audio Workstations like Pro Tools, Cubase Pro, Ableton Live and FL Studio which he masterfully operates. As a music producer, he makes use of the Akai MPC, Akai Advance Keyboard, Yamaha Motif, Moog Minimoog, Moog Sub Phatty, a Grand Rhodes keyboard, and several Virtual Synthesizers for his music productions. His music compositions feature a lot of African ethnic instruments as well as ethnic instruments from all over the world, thus giving his music a global feel. In 2015, Daddy Jiggy got an admission to the Middle Tennessee State University for his Masters Degree in Audio Technologies And Engineering. After his education in Physics & Electronics and further education in Audio Technologies & Engineering, he received top notch mentorship from Grammy Awards Winning Music Producers and Mixing Engineers who have been responsible for producing diamond and platinum albums by world class artists like Michael Jackson, Brandy, Outkast, 2Pac, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Toni Braxton, Alicia Keys, T Pain, etc.
Daddy Jiggy has worked in the offices of the President, CEO and Executive Directors of the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC, USA as a part of the exclusive Executive Information Technology staff of the World Bank Group.
He has played supportive and influential roles in the development and growth of artists like Danny Young, Dre Sticks, Sina Fagbenro-Byron, etc in the areas of mentorship and contributions to their studio recordings while utilizing cutting edge audio technologies.
Daddy Jiggy currently resides in the United States of America from where he digitally releases audio music, music videos and digital entertainment contents to a global audience through the independent record label Paradise Studios, USA.
